Instructions

Welcome to the Learn Direct & Build Learning Management System. To view available courses before trying them, please visit the e-Learning section. Use the Login section to create a learner account, enrole for an built environment e-course and try out the e-modules.

Please note that the following minimum PC technical specifications are required to use the e-learning courses:

  • Processor - Intel Pentium III 1.0 GHz
  • Operating System - Microsoft Windows 98
  • Memory - 256 Mb
  • Graphics Card - 32Mb Direct X 7.0 compatible
  • Sound Card - 16-bit SoundBlaster compatible
  • Plug-ins - Macromedia Flash and Director installed

To use the e-learning courses need the following plug-ins installed. Either install them now or wait you are prompted by the site. If you require assistance please contact your system administrator.

Creating a new account

This first thing you need to do is create a learning account. This will make sure that your use of, and scoring in, the learning modules is tracked and saved.

To create a learning account click the Create Account button on the main page. You will be asked to enter your name, a username and a password. Please note that username and password are case-sensitive.

Once you have created a learning account successfully you will be able to log in and start using the courses and their respective modules.

Using an existing account

To log in and use the learning modules with an existing account, enter your username and password in the appropriate account log In boxes on the Log In screen. Please note that username and password are case-sensitive.

If you do not yet have a username and password, refer to the Creating a New Account section to create an account.

Once you have entered a valid username and password you will be taken to Course List screen.

Selecting a course

To select a course to work through, click the Available Courses button. This will display a list of all the courses you can access, which can then be selected by clicking on the appropriate title.

You will then be shown the Module List screen, where individual modules can be accessed by clicking their titles.

Using a module

Individual modules can be accessed by clicking their titles.

You should note that modules are tracked by the Learning Management System for usage and assessment purposes. Each module has five status components as outlined below.

  1. Module Name – title of module
  2. Status – current progress of module
  3. Score – percentage achieved (if applicable)
  4. Mastery Score – percentage required to pass (if applicable)
  5. Time Spent – total time (hh:mm:ss) sent by a user in a module

Within Status the following may be logged:

  • Not attempted – module not begun
  • Browsed – module completed but has no assessment to score
  • Passed – module completed and necessary assessment score achieved
  • Failed – module completed and necessary assessment score not achieved
